This article introduces Squash TM Search workspace and the main actions available from this workspace.
The search tool is accessible from the 3 main workspaces: Requirement, Test Case and Campaign workspaces.
1 – Mass editing of attributes in the workspaces
Goal: in Squash TM, you are always able to edit requirements and test cases. You can edit a specific requirement or test case. You can also edit some attributes simultaneously.
For example, let us mass edit a few attributes of some test cases, from the Test Case workspace.
Prerequisite : the user should have writing rights.
You can mass edit the following attributes of test cases:
- Weight - Status - Type - Nature
NB : regarding requirements, mass editing is done on the fields: criticality, category et status.
To make changes, select the search assistant in the toolbar at the top of the library.
Search test cases according to the desired criteria. Then select the test cases you want to edit:
Tick one or more attributes to edit, then confirm:
You can also edit the information of the columns Reference, Name, Weight, Nature, Type, Status et Eligibility for automation straight from the Search workspace:
2 – Build a new iteration from the Search workspace
Goal: Creating an iteration from the Search workspace can save you a considerable amount of time when building projects. Use existing test cases to design a new iteration.
Let us suppose that, after a second delivery, you want to rerun failed test to check the corrections.
From the Search tool in the Campaign workspace, go to the iteration tree structure to select the test cases you want to rerun. Note that several iterations from different projects can be selected simultaneously.
Then select the failed test cases: you see the tests status in the Execution window. You can select several attributes.
For example, you can select both failed and successful test cases in order to check the regression of some tests after a second delivery.
In this window you can apply filters to select test cases depending on execution modes, milestones and attributes of the test cases. You can also fill in the test case ID straight into the Information tab.
Once the tests features are selected, click on [Search]. The relevant tests are displayed.
Select the appropriate test cases then click on [Add]. A pop-up window appears. Now select the iteration in which to integrate the test cases.
There are two ways to do it:
Add the selected test cases to an existing iteration.
Create a new iteration for the selected test cases.
For our example, let us create a new iteration. Remember to click on [Add] to integrate the chosen tests into the new iteration.
You can also mass edit test cases status from the Search tool in the Campaign workspace. Proceed in the same manner as from the Test Case workspace: select the tests you want to edit, click on [Modify], then select the relevant status.
A new iteration is then created in the library of the Campaign workspace.
This tutorial about the Search tool is also available on video on our YouTube channel (with English subtitles).
