Visibility S1 2021 about Squash AUTOM and Squash DEVOPS

During the Squash Users Club of November 19, 2020, we presented the new 2021 offer around the Squash software suite. It was also the occasion to reveal the upcoming release of the Squash orchestrator, a new tool designed to replace Squash TF for automated test execution, whose components are distributed within the Squash AUTOM and Squash DEVOPS modules.

We had planned to release these components during the first quarter of 2021, but we have fallen behind schedule. In order to offer you a first release version of the functionalities of Squash AUTOM and Squash DEVOPS with a level of quality corresponding to our standards, the release date has been postponed to the beginning of April 2021.

Until then, we propose two alpha versions with restricted functionalities, intended for POC and therefore usable in a non-production context (in particular with a Squash TM with a new database or the replication of an existing database).

Squash AUTOM release plan:

  • Februray 05, 2021 : version 1.0.0.alpha1 of Squash AUTOM

With this version, you will be able to use Squash AUTOM for:

o Create execution plans « as code » (EPAC) to precisely orchestrate the execution of automated tests outside the test repository

o Exploit the following actions within a EPAC :

  • Retrieve automated scripts from a Git code manager

  • Trigger automated tests Robot Framework or JUnit

  • Transmit execution reports to an Amazon S3 container

o Transmit to Squash TM the results and reports at the end of a Squash TM execution plan.

This feature is available in Community version or in Premium version if you have the corresponding Squash license.

The limitations of version 1.0.0.alpha1 to remember:

o To retrieve automated scripts from a Git manager, they must be located in a repository with public read access and be located on the master branch.

o Triggering an automated test execution plan from Squash TM via the Squash orchestrator is not supported.

Squash AUTOM version 1.0.0.alpha1 is compatible

with Squash TM version 1.22.1.

  • March 16, 2021: version 1.0.0.alpha2 of Squash AUTOM

With this version, you will be able to use Squash AUTOM for:

o Create execution plans "as code" (EPAC) to precisely orchestrate the execution of automated tests outside the test repository

o Exploit the following actions within a EPAC :

  • Trigger automated tests Robot Framework, JUnit, Cucumber, Cypress, SoapUI

o Generate a User Friendly summary report (Allure format) at the end of the execution of an execution plan retrieved from Squash TM.

Version 1.0.0.alpha2 removes some of the limitations of version 1.0.0.alpha1:

o For retrieving automated scripts from a Git manager, they can be located in a repository with private read access and the branch to be used is configurable.

o When executing an execution plan of Squash TM, the Robot Framework Cypress, and Cucumber tests are able to exploit the parameters transmitted by Squash TM.

This version 1.0.0.alpha2 of Squash AUTOM/Squash DEVOPS is compatible
